Warning! Spoilers ahead for season two of You. Stop now if you haven’t seen the season yet.
Season two of You somehow managed to be even crazier than the first—from Joe actually trying to be a good guy (and then failing), to the reveal that Love is actually more of a psychopath than Joe is, the season set viewers on a roller coaster ride of emotions. You‘s second season ended with Joe and Love moving to the suburbs ahead the birth of their child, although it seems like Joe will soon set his eyes on their next door neighbor as his next obsession.
Will there be a season three of You?
While there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, it’s almost certain that You will get a season three. Fan response to the show has been incredible, and the season’s finale left on an interesting cliffhanger.
You‘s co-creator and executive producer Sera Gamble previously told Cosmopolitan UK that there’s already an idea in the works for the show’s third season. “First of all, it’s up to the powers that be. We hope that a lot of people will watch the show and that it gets to continue. I will say that we have an idea for season three that is so exciting that people talk about it in the [writer’s] room every day,” Gamble explained. “My fingers are crossed. I’ll just say, I hope we get the chance to keep making the show.”
Additionally, author Caroline Kepnes is currently working on a third and fourth book in the You series. Entertainment Weekly reported that the third book will follow Joe and Love as they move to the Pacific Northwest.
But while we wait for a season three announcement, You recently received a tax credit credit from the state of California for season three. As Deadline explains, receiving a tax credit does not guarantee a show’s renewal, but it does help secure one, because the series is then more financially attractive. If You is renewed, we can probably expect the new season to premiere sometime in mid to late 2020.
