Gary Oldman is taking on an exciting new role.
The 61-year-old actor is set to star in an upcoming film directed by David Fincher called Mank, according to Variety on Wednesday (July 10).
The film follows Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz, with Gary set to play the titular role. It’s based on a script by David’s late father, Jack, who wrote a script prior to his death in 2003.
The story will reportedly follow Herman‘s “tumultuous development of the script for Citizen Kane — which would go on to be considered one of the best films of all time — alongside director Orson Welles. Despite the film’s critical success, the script was the only part of the film to win an Oscar.”
The film will be shot in black and white, and production is scheduled to begin in November.
