Liam Fox, 48, divorced Nicole Barber-Lane, who plays Myra McQueen in Hollyoaks, in 2015 after being married for 16 years. Following the break-up, Liam, who is known as playing Dan Spencer in Emmerdale, decided to delve into an online “dating rampage” because he didn’t want to “feel sorry for himself”. The Emmerdale star admitted to taking to dating online platforms including Tinder after being a self-titled “monogamist”. Speaking to OK! magazine, the actor said: “I went on an online dating rampage! I was on Tinder and eHarmony. “I’ve dated all sorts of women and have some great stories to share but I’d better not tell in case they read this.”
He continued: “I didn’t want to sit at home feeling sorry for myself after my split from Nicole.
“I was a serial monogamist from the moment I met her in my early 20s so I needed time to figure out who I was and what I needed from a relationship.”
Liam was previously married to Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane after the pair first met as trainee teachers at Tameside college in Manchester.
The former couple share two children together.
The actor has since moved on from his “dating rampage” and found new love with his fiancée Joanna.
They initially met while studying media and performance at Salford University in the 1990s but only ever shared a drunken kiss.
Speaking on whether they regretted how much time they had missed out on, the pair agreed they’re glad they had waited because they had the time to grow up.
Liam commented: “No, because I don’t necessarily think it would have worked out if we’d got together earlier.
“We’ve both matured and grown as people, and now we’re in a place where we’re ready to settle down with each other and appreciate what we have.”
Joanna continued: “It’s lovely how our relationship has come together from such a great friendship, that’s what make me certain we’ll go the distance.
“I was seriously ill in 2015 and nearly lost my life, which makes me appreciate what I have with Liam even more.”
Joanne previously suffered a tumour in 2015, two years before they became a couple.
It was later confirmed as the condition myasthenia gravis – a long-term condition that causes muscle weakness.
The happy couple have since got engaged in Paris in April this year.
