The ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker announced that he’s taking a break from the Internet in November last year, after wrapping up work on a music video for his new album.
AceShowbiz –Ed Sheeran has made his return to Instagram after months-long hiatus. In his first post, the “Shape of You” hitmaker said that “turbulent things” in his personal life caused his lengthy social media break.
On Tuesday, January 31, the 31-year-old English singer posted a video of him opening up about his hesitancy to use social media for the past few years. “I realize I haven’t been that engaged in my social media or my fan base online over the last couple of years,” he said, joking that the things he had posted were often weird or funny.
Ed commonly takes a long break from Instagram towards the end of each year but he explained that his latest exit was part of a bigger issue. “I realize I haven’t been that engaged in my social media or fan base over the last couple of years and the things that have been posted on this account might have got a bit boring, I’m sorry, that’s my fault,” he began
“The reason I’m making this video is, just being totally honest, I’ve had some turbulent things going on in my personal life so I just didn’t really feel like being online and pretending to be something I’m not, when I wasn’t feeling like that,” the “Perfect” crooner explained. “And I know that sounds weird.”
As he’s “back online,” he said that “things are looking up.” The Grammy-winning musician went on cracking a joke, “So you know, weird s**t is gonna start being posted here. I’ve made this video about 50 f**king times I’m not making another one!” He, however, opted not to get into specifics about the turbulence he’s experienced.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes snap overlooking a beach, the “Shivers” singer penned the caption, “Signing off now until 2023. See you in the new year. Much love, Ed x.”
