Drake dropped a new song, “War,” as well as a music video for the track. The Theo Skudra-directed video features tranquil shots of a ski vacation, including a bonfire and a skidoo.
Through the song, Drake speaks about his alleged feud with The Weeknd and mending the relationship. His relationships with others get a mention as well.
“OVOXO link up, mandem drink up, me and the drillers/Hawk and Sticks and Cash and Baka, Gucci, P, and Gilla/And the boy that sound like he sang on ‘Thriller,’ you know that’s been my n—a/Yeah, we just had to fix things, family, Six tings, we can’t split up,” Drake raps over the drill beat produced by AXL Beats.
“Anyone I’m beefin’ with is a no name/N***as can’t even win home games/They just gotta fall in line like Soul Train,” he goes on rapping.
Tensions between Drake and Weeknd flared up after both of them dated Bella Hadid.
The track is part of the newly released El-Kuumba Tape Vol. 1, a collaboration between OVO‘s Oliver El-Khatib and Kuumba International.
