Some others, meanwhile, are urging the NBA to do something to help the former Boston Celtics player out after he was seen in the video getting punched and kicked repeatedly.
AceShowbiz –Delonte West‘s name has been trending on social media ever since videos of him getting beaten up in the middle of the streets surfaced online. While some decided to mock the former NBA player over the clip, some others expressed concern over his well-being. Among those who are worried for him is his ex-teammate Jameer Nelson.
The 37-year-old free agent issued a lengthy statement expressing how sad he was after seeing the viral footage. “I’m sick today my stomach right now seeing the videos of Delonte,” he said, encouraging people to “pray for Him and his family and hope that he seeks the proper help.” He added, “I’m not sure what exactly going on with Dwest but he knows I’m in his corner and will help him get through this. Yes, I’ve spoken to him Over the past several months, just trying to be there for him as a friend.”
Elsewhere in the statement, Jameer told his followers to go seek professional help “if your having mental, emotional or physical set backs in life.” He concluded the post by saying, “And please be mindful, when you posting videos or pictures of somebody. You may think your helping but you might be hurting them even more. People have kids and their kids don’t deserve to be embarrassed. Please pray!”

Besides Jameer, NFL star Dez Bryant has also given his two cents on the video and offered his help to Delonte. Blasting those who mocked the troubled star, Dez said on his account, “I see a lot of dumb comments where folks making fun of Delonte west… this is not a joking matter … I’m going to figure out how I can help him… he need to be in rehab or something…”

Many other people shared the same sentiment as Dez, with some urging NBA to do something to help Delonte out. “I don’t wanna see the NBA pushing anymore mental health initiatives until they help Delonte West in some way,” one criticized the organization. “I hope the NBA players association puts there arms around Delonte West tonight. Send a PJ to go get him. Have your lawyers get an emergency probate order for commitment. Save his life. Let’s not be there for his death and not for his life,” another said.
In the much-talked-about video, which was allegedly taken in Washington D.C., Delonte was seen laying motionless in the middle of a busy road as someone punched and kicked him mercilessly. In another video, he said that someone approached him with a gun when he was walking down the road. But when asked to further detail about the incident, he started going on a rant instead.
His family has yet to speak up as of now.
