Life in Hollywood can be a lot, even for celebs!
Which is why Chris Hemsworth made the call to relocate his family from Los Angeles back to his homeland of Australia! In a new interview with The Sunday Telegraph, the Thor star opened up about why life down under is what’s best for his wife and children.
He explained:
“When you’re suffocated by the work, every conversation that you’re having and every billboard you’re seeing is to do with a movie or whatever around the industry, you lose perspective.”
Sounds like this was definitely the right choice! ICYMI, Hemsworth, his wife Elsa Pataky, daughter India, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan live in Byron Bay as of 2016, as does Liam Hemsworth! The 36-year-old added:
“There’s not a single person that I interact with, or close friends of mine, that are really in the industry and so that’s hugely refreshing. It’s great for my kids and my wife.”
Chris has been in a series of intense movies, so a little break right now is definitely needed:
“I just want to stop for a while. I need to be home for a minute. Just enjoy it. It all flies by.”
This mini-hiatus from Hollywood isn’t all that surprising, especially after he previously told Aussie newspaper Daily Telegraph last year that he would be taking the remainder of 2019 off following the release of Men in Black: International:
“This year I probably won’t shoot anything. I just want to be at home now with my kids. They are at a very important age. They are still young and they are aware when I leave more than before. I have a press tour, a few endorsements and bits and pieces, but mostly just be home.”
The Avengers actor added at the time:
“If you went back 10 years and asked me what would be my dream scenario, this is kind of it. I can now sit back, enjoy and appreciate it, and stop chasing .”
For Hemsworth, it was definitely a trade-off to choose time with his kids over his career. He previously told GQ Australia:
“I do wonder sometimes, if we hadn’t met, what my career would look like. Have I made decisions based on that? How has that influenced me?”
Time with his brood has definitely come at a price, however:
“There’s times when I’ve thought, ‘Wow, because having kids is more important to me, some of my roles have suffered.’ There’s definitely a couple of films I could’ve put way more energy into but I was like, ‘No, I’d rather be with my kids.’”
