When opening up about the tragic loss in a new interview, the 42-year-old rocker reveals that ‘there’s always going to be reminders of what you could’ve done’ following the deaths of his loved ones.
AceShowbiz –Chris Daughtry has gotten candid about how he dealt with the death of his mother and stepdaughter. The Daughtry frontman admitted that he beat himself up following the tragic loss because of the “guilt” he felt.
The 42-year-old shared his story when appearing on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Thursday, June 23. “I dealt with both differently, processed both losses very differently – the common denominator in both is the guilt,” he told host Kelly Clarkson. “The ‘I wish I would have said this. I wish I would’ve done this. I wish I would’ve called more.’ “
“Those moments of guilt are the hardest because you can’t do anything about it,” the rocker added. “There’s always going to be reminders of what you could’ve done or whatever, and I tend to beat myself up a lot over it.”
Chris confirmed his mother’s passing when he was mourning Hannah Price’s death. “I am still processing the last 24 hours. I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken,” he wrote while posting a photo of smiling Hannah in November.
“I just recently lost my mother to cancer but I was blessed with the chance to say goodbye and I was processing it privately,” he continued. “We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it’s another huge hit to our family.”
In January, Chris and his wife Deanna revealed Hannah died from suicide by hanging while under the influence of narcotics. “Our beloved Daughter Hannah Price passed away on November 12th, 2021,” the statement opened. “Much speculation has been made since that date, and after a full investigation by law enforcement we are now able to speak in further detail.”
The pair went on to note that Hannah “struggled with mental illness and was in and out of therapy and treatment centers” from a young age. They explained, “As Hannah got older, she struggled to find her footing and began using drugs and often found herself in abusive relationships.”
“Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track,” they elaborated further. “We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family.”
