Beyoncé presented Chloe x Halle with the Rising Star Award at Billboard’s Women In Music 2020 event on Thursday, December 10.

“Ladies, I am so, so proud of you!” Beyoncé told the duo. “You’ve done this with authenticity, with grace, with raw talent, and you manage to shine in every room you enter, and I’ll always love you.”

Chloe Bailey exclaimed, “Even though we don’t do what we do for awards, this is definitely a pinch-me moment!”

Chloe x Halle released their sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, in June. They have also opened for Beyoncé on two different tours.

Chloe also thanked their mentor Beyoncé, saying, “When it comes to her, we are filled with nothing but extreme gratitude.”

“She saw something in us both, two young Black girls with short little locs passionately singing their hearts out at home for the world to see,” Halle Bailey added about Beyoncé. “So we just want to say thank you, Beyoncé, for being you, and believing in the power of lifting up the young. We love you!”

During the virtual event, Chloe X Halle also performed an ethereal rendition of their song “Baby Girl.”
