And in candid words from her book, Candice admitted how hard it was opening up about the difficulties she’s faced in her life, adding that getting her feelings ‘on paper’ was one of the most ‘toughest’ things she had to do.
She explained: ‘This book is testament to the fact that every day I just about put one foot in front of the other and I am here. Ironic that a book about food (my favourite thing) and mental health has nearly broken me. But in truth it has.’
She went on: ‘I am laying myself bare, talking about things I’ve not really spoken about and quite frankly I am terrified.’

Candice went on to call cooking her ‘saviour’, commenting that the act of learning from her mistakes and working out how to improve them has been like ‘therapy’ to her .
She went on: ‘Cooking gives me confidence when I feel my least confident. It reminds me I can do something good, that I can make people smile and bring joy through something I have done myself. Cooking reminds me that I am good enough.’
She added that the pastime had helped her push through some ‘proper s**t times’ and ‘continues’ to do so amid the troubles in her personal life.

‘I also got diagnosed with ADHD, hence the disorganisation and forgetfulness.’
She revealed: ‘On the days we were shut and towards the end of the year I said, “I don’t know if I can do this on my own if lockdown happens again.
‘I just can’t do it. I need to be on the go all the time and that silence and darkness on top of a brain that can be quite dark anyway was a lot.’
