The gang of "burglary tourists" who raided Marcus Wareing's £5million Wimbledon home were wanted criminals in Chile, it's claimed.
The £33,000 raid saw TV Chef Marcus, 49, lose a gold Rolex and two Omega watches worth more than £12,000, while his wife Jane lost designer shoes, a Cartier watch and a locket containing pictures of her father and uncle.
Danko Carvajal-Donaire, 20, Claudio Donoso, 20, Nicolas Portilla Astorga, 27, and Jorge Rojas, 22, were captured days after the raid while on their way to another burglary and were sentenced to 40 months in prison last month.
Carvajal-Donaire had four outstanding arrest warrants for crimes including robbery and gun possession and was detained in Spain last year for using a false passport, the Evening Standard reports.
He was arrested again in Italy a few weeks later and deported back to Chile.
Rojas was deported from the US last march and denied entry to Germany a month later.
Despite this, both men were able to enter the UK in October to carry out the burglary.
When the gang was arrested after the raid Carvajal-Donaire was still using his brother's passport, who has been serving a prison sentence in Chile since 2016.
Astorga and Donoso had police records in Chile for "crimes against property".
Donoso had been deported from Spain in 2018.
During the raid the thieves smashed their way through first-floor patio doors and rifled through the master bedroom.
They were captured on their way to another burglary and Rojas had been wearing the pendant that was stolen from Jane.
Detectives also discovered a picture of Carvajal-Donaire and Astorga posing with some of the missing jewellery.
All four men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and going equipped to steal and were sentenced to three years and four months in prison in January.
They are likely to be deported while serving their prison terms.
Mrs Wareing told the court at the time that the family had spent a lot of money on extra security and called the loss of sentimental jewellery "upsetting".
Wareing said: "We are pleased that the men have been caught and would like to thank Wimbledon police for assisting us during this time.
"They made us feel safe and secure again in our home and were utterly brilliant."
