Who says Halloween has to be limited to just one day?!
Clearly, nobody told that to this black cat at the New York Giants game on Monday night!
The G-Men hosted the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, desperate for a win to remain barely relevant in the NFL‘s NFC East Conference race. Sadly for the Giants, the Cowboys ran away with the game, winning 37-18 on national TV.
But even the Texas team weren’t the big story of the night; that honor went to a black cat who ran on to the field in the middle of the game and quickly went viral because of it! It’s unclear how the feline got onto the field in the first place, but once there, it made the most of its 15 minutes of fame, completely stopping the match to dart all the way across the field before running into the end zone. Several state troopers (!) quickly came out to run the cat off the field, but it wasn’t having it! LOLz!
Eventually, the stray ran out the back of one of the end zones, briefly up into the stands, and then back down onto the field before running up one of the tunnels leading underneath the stadium, ending the viral moment for us all too soon. Alas.
Radio announcer Kevin Harlan made the most of the moment and delivered a truly incredible call relaying the mystery cat’s every move, including the touchdown it (eventually) scored while running around in the red zone. You can hear Harlan’s call, synced up to the full video of the memorable moment of NFL glory (below):
Ha!!!! Amazing!
Does this mean bad luck for the Giants now?? They did fall to a miserable 2-7 record after Monday night’s loss to Dallas, so…
Hilariously, Stanford University‘s football team responded to the Giants amid their cat controversy, pointing out that they had their own small animal problem last month in a game against the University of Oregon, as well:
LOLz!!! Welcome to the club, indeed!
No word on what happened to the kitty after running up the tunnel, unfortunately. We hope it’s safe and sound somewhere after its long touchdown run!
What do U think about this, Perezcious readers?! There are plenty of funny cases of animals getting onto the field during games, as we saw with Stanford’s response tweet here, but this one was particularly hilarious — and Harlan’s radio call made it so much better, didn’t it?!
Happy (belated) Halloween to that cat, and the rest of you, too! LOLz!!!
