Angela Rippon on her first Strictly rehearsals on set
Angela Rippon took to Instagram to give a candid update on her struggles during final rehearsals, just hours before her first live performance on Strictly 2023.
The Rip-Off Britain presenter, 78, admitted she had faced a “disaster” during her last minute preparations with professional dancer Kai Widdrington, 28.
Speaking in a video, Angela said: “I just finished my first ever session of rehearsals on the dance floor here on the set of Strictly Come Dancing in Elstree.
“We all get three goes at it on the set, and I have to say the first one was a bit of a disaster, the other two were okay, but Kai and I don’t have any more rehearsal time together.
“So I feel that once I leave the studio and get home, I’m going to be wearing a groove in the dining room floor as I go over the routine on my own again, and again, and again.”

Detailing her nerves ahead of her Cha Cha to Dame Shirley Bassey’s cover of Pink’s Get The Party Started, Angela admitted she was getting “first night terrors”.
She continued: “Because as tomorrow looms, I think I’m facing it now with a mixture of real excitement, but first night terrors as well.
“But tomorrow, the live programme, what will be will be, I just hope I can get through it and enjoy it.”
“And I hope that you will too,” she added to her 7,935 Instagram followers.

“So I’ll see you then, bye for now,” Angela concluded.
The star also captioned her update: “We’ve just finished our final rehearsal of the week for #strictlycomedancing in the studio so I thought I’d share a little update.
“Thank you for all your supportive messages and comments. We shall see you on the dance floor tomorrow night on @bbcone at 6:15pm.”
It comes after Angela revealed in her Strictly Diary for The Telegraph that she has already lost four pounds and has been “sweating buckets” during dance training for the BBC show.
She told the publication: “Our training sessions together so far have been intense, over anything up to six hours at a stretch.
“I ache everywhere. Have bruises in impossible places. Sweat buckets. And have lost four pounds.
“And for three days last week I was in Manchester, juggling the Strictly training with recording for the next series of my “day job”, the BBC consumer programme Rip-Off Britain, which starts on October 2.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC One.
