Tennis champion Andy Murray has revealed that despite his immense success, his seven-year-old daughter Sophia still finds him "embarrassing."

Murray, 36, will be hoping to secure his third Wimbledon title this summer, and despite being ranked as the world number 39, Sophia doesn't seem to rate having such a famous dad.

Sharing that his daughter refused to give him a cuddle when he picked her up from school, Murray said: "My eldest daughter is aware now of what I do, but I don't think she really sees it as a good thing. "I asked her that night, 'Why wouldn't you give me a hug at school today?'

She said, 'Because people know you – you're No 39 in tennis or something!' She doesn't see it as a cool thing, it is more than embarrassing."

Andy Murray shares four children with his wife Kim: Sophia, seven, Edie, five, Teddy, three, and Lola, who is two years old and was born during the lockdown.

He is often surrounded by his supportive family after victories, but cheeky daughter Sophia has also started teasing him using his success.

Andy admitted that his daughter shows off in front of her school friends by calling him "Andy Murray" instead of "daddy."

Ironically, Andy previously spoke about Sophia's personal love for the sport, as he told This Morning's Alison Hammond: "My eldest daughter plays [tennis] once a week. If she wanted to have a tennis career, I'd be happy, but at their ages, it's important to be doing stuff with their friends."

And it's not just Andy's eldest Sophia who has a sassy personality. Andy recently shared that his first venture into coaching ended in "disgrace" after his five-year-old daughter, Edie, refused to work with him.

The two-time Wimbledon champion took to social media to treat his 1.9 million followers to a rare insight into his family life.

On his Instagram story, the athlete shared a picture of a handwritten note that Edie had penned for him following their first training session together.

Captioning the post, he wrote: "My first venture into the coaching world has ended in disgrace. 5-year-old daughter has quit, telling me, 'I don't want to play anymore… you stand too close to me.'"

On the actual note itself, Edie wrote: "Dear Daddy, I am not going to play tennis for a while. Lots of love, Edie."

She decorated the letter with a resounding red cross in case her dad missed the point, and she even drew a little tennis player alongside hearts and kisses.
