Meghan Markle, 38, was recently slammed for guest-editing the September issue of British Vogue Magazine.
But Andrea McLean, 49, has now spoken out in defence of the Duchess of Sussex, and hit out at those who have criticised her.
The Loose Women presenter shared an image of Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, to her Instagram account, where she defended the former actress.
Andrea said: “A taster of the piece I’ve written for @officialtgiof This Girl Is On Fire this week about the press coverage of Meghan @sussexroyal – her guest edition of @voguemagazine and the launch of a fashion range in support of @smartworkscharity.”
I wondered how she must have felt

She hit out: “When did it become okay to rip someone to shreds over and over again for trying to do something good?
“Nobody gets it right all the time, NO ONE, but if we’re not careful no one will even TRY to do anything good out of fear they will be ripped apart, judged and found lacking.”
Andrea added: “What a sorry world we will live in if we stop trying to help out of fear that others will turn on us, criticising what we haven’t done rather than appreciating what we have.”
In the star’s This Girls Is On Fire article, she questioned why Meghan was getting criticism for “doing something good”.
She wrote: “I wondered how she must have felt as she crawled into bed last night, after a week of blasting from all sides.
“Let’s take away the grumblings about an American actress marrying into our Royal Family and trying to do things ‘her way’.”

Andrea continued: “This is a young woman trying to make positive changes in the world and use her platform for good.”
The popular presenter drew attention to the current climate where people are more open about their mental health.
She said: “At a time when the world feels like a very scary place, politically and environmentally, with rising crime, debt, mental illness in our lives and on our minds, why on earth are we slamming someone for trying to do something good?”
On the special cover of Vogue, which she began planning in January this year, Meghan hand picked 15 influential women.
Meghan’s trailblazers included Jane Fonda, mental health campaigner and model Adwoa Aboah, transgender Orange Is the New Black actress Laverne Cox and climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg.
Speaking about the September issue, Meghan thanked editor-in-chief of British Vogue Magazine, Edward Enninful, for the “opportunity”.
“Guest Editing the September issue of British Vogue has been rewarding, educational and inspiring,” the Duchess said. “To deep dive into this process, working quietly behind the scenes for so many months, I am happy to now be able to share what we have created.
“A huge thanks to all of the friends who supported me in this endeavour, lending their time and energy to help within these pages and on the cover.”
She concluded: “Thank you for saying ‘Yes!’. and to Edward, thank you for this wonderful opportunity.” – The Duchess of Sussex.”
