Eddie Murphy‘s kids are coming to New York.
The comedian says that all 10 of his children, who range in age from 1 to 30 years old, will be in attendance when he returns to “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in 35 years this week.
“My kids have all flown in for this, they’re all flying out. So they’ll watch it,” 50-year-old Murphy told Al Roker on the “Today Show” on Thursday.
Murphy and fiancée Paige Butcher welcomed his 10th child — a baby boy named Max — last December. The couple also share 3-year-old daughter, Izzy. He shares children Bria, 30, Miles, 27, Shayne, 25, Zola, 19, and Bella, 17, with ex-wife Nicole Murphy. He also shares son Eric, 30, with Paulette McNeely and son Christian, 29, with Tamera Hood. Spice Girl Mel B is the mother of Eddie’s 12-year-old daughter, Angel.
Several of his children posted on social media about how excited they were for their father to make his return to the NBC show
“Sooooooooo excited for this!!!! ???? #prouddaughter,” Bria wrote.
“Litty” Shayne posted.
The “Dolemite Is My Name” star also talked about how he wants to make sure that his return goes well.
“I really, really want it to be right,” he told Roker. “You don’t want to wait 35 years and come back and the show ain’t s–t and people clapping going, ‘I thought he was going to be much funnier than this.’”
He then hinted at what acts viewers can expect to see from his old days on the show.
“We’re talking about a Gumby thing, and a Buckwheat thing and a Bill Cosby thing maybe — It would be very funny. I don’t know if he would think it was funny — Mr. Robinson, Velvet Jones,” he said. “I’m down for whatever, as long as it’s really, really funny.”
Lizzo is set to be the musical guest for Murphy’s return.
