- Amy Schumer just jokingly sent a cease and desist letter to her personal trainer, AJ Fisher.
- In the letter, Amy’s real lawyer wrote that Fisher “forced Ms. Schumer to perform extreme and unduly punishing physical exercises.”
- After sharing the letter on Instagram, Amy wrote that her trainer was “amazing” and thanked Fisher for helping her recover from herniated discs and her C-section.
Working out with a personal trainer can be insanely intense. That’s kinda the whole point since they’re actually getting paid to make sure you go hard every. single. time. Apparently, Amy Schumer is over it, because she jokingly just sent a cease and desist letter to her personal trainer.
The stand-up comedian shared the letter on Instagram, pointing out that she actually had her lawyer draft the document. Amy mentioned this on her 3 Girls, 1 Keith podcast on Tuesday and then followed up with sharing the actual letter on social media.
“We are the attorneys for Amy Schumer, an internationally known actress, comedian and high-profile public figure. It has come to our attention that while Ms. Schumer has engaged you to perform simple physical training for her, you have instead forced Ms. Schumer to perform extreme and unduly punishing physical exercises well outside the bounds of normal physical training,” the letter reads. “Your blatant disregard of Ms. Schumer’s physical well-being can only be interpreted as a deliberate effort to cause Ms. Schumer emotional distress, potential physical injury, and lost revenue. It may even be determined to be a violation of her human rights.”

“Accordingly, demand is hereby made that you immediately cease and desist such torment of Ms. Schumer and modify your personal training sessions to ameliorate such pain and suffering,” it continues. “In the event that you do not immediately comply with the foregoing, we will advise our client to seek all legal remedies necessary to protect her rights to the fullest extent of the law…”
The letter goes on from there, and it’s all completely hilarious. “I jokingly threatened to do it during our workouts for months,” the I Feel Pretty actress wrote in the Instagram caption. “This is it! I love my lawyer and I once, without his permission bought him bench ad space on his route to work. He had a good reaction to it and wasn’t mad and sent this picture.”
Amy then went on to praise her trainer, AJ Fisher. “AJ is an amazing trainer and is the reason I feel strong and good and have recovered from my herniated discs and c section,” she wrote. “Was this is a wasteful use of resources? Very very much so but it brought me so much joy.”
Btw, AJ said on the podcast that she knew it was a joke, but she still got “goosebumps” when she first read the letter. “I had a moment of, ‘Was she serious? Is my career totally over?'” she said.
AJ now seems to find the whole thing hilarious. She also shared the letter on Instagram and had this to say: “Best QUASI-testimonial I’ve ever received? I’m totally suing you for getting in shape too fast! @amyschumer it’s not my fault!”
