Victoria and David Beckham are one of the most famous couples on the planet with their entire relationship having been documented in the media since it began in 1997.
However, prior to finding love with ex-footballer David, 48, fashion designer Victoria, 49, was engaged to electrician Mark Wood, who she met when she was a teenager. During the early Spice Girls days, Victoria even used Mark's surname, going by the name Victoria Adams Wood.
She met Mark when she was 14 and he was working for her parents' electrical company, with the pair then going on to live together at Victoria's parents' £400,000 home in Goff's Oak, Herfordshire.
Just before Victoria auditioned for the Spice Girls in 1994, Mark asked her to be his wife. However, just as the girl group began to find fame Victoria, known as Posh Spice, ended her six-year romance with Mark.
She previously opened up about her first engagement in an interview with Channel 4, saying: "It wasn't the right person for me, I wasn't enjoying myself, so that had to end. But I didn't give him the ring back either! I've still got it because it was a wicked ring. Isn't that horrible? It makes me sound really materialistic."
Mark had nothing but nice things to say about his former fiance despite her breaking off their engagement. Chatting to The People in 1997, he said: "It was a very special relationship. But that part of my life is over. It's sad because we were together for a long time. But she's got what she always wanted and I'm proud of her."
However, Mark later shared secrets about his sex life with Victoria in Channel 5 documentary, Victoria Beckham's Secrets, which was released in 2004.
The electrician was reportedly unhappy after Victoria's comments she made about him in ITV documentary, Being Victoria. The fashion designer said: "For some reason we got engaged. He was an alarm engineer. If only he'd stayed in that cupboard that I met him in at my mum's house."
A Channel 5 spokesperson said at the time: "As they always say, revenge is a dish best served cold. Mark has never spoken before in public about his relationship with Victoria but feels it is time to set the record straight. Mark was quite hurt by what she said and doesn't intend sparing Victoria's blushes."
Two years after splitting from Mark, Victoria met footballer David in the Manchester United players' lounge and just 10 months later he asked her to be his wife.
The couple married in 1999 and welcomed their first child, Brooklyn, 24, later that same year. Victoria and David have now been married for 24 years and are parents to Brooklyn, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 18, and 12 year old Harper.
