A MAN has tragically died after falling from a bridge before he was struck by at least one car – with cops arresting a driver.

The 50-year-old fell from the bridge in Surbiton, South West London, before he was hit by a car about 9.30pm on Tuesday, September 12.

Met Police said paramedics had rushed to the A3 Hook Rise North to find the man injured.

But despite their best efforts, he tragically died of his injuries.

A police spokesperson said it is believed that the man fell from a bridge before being struck by at least one car.

A short time later, a driver who had failed to stop was found by police.

He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and bailed pending further enquiries.

His next of kin have been informed as Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit launch an investigation.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
