Prince Harry has been urged to "swallow his pride" and make the effort to reunite with his brother William and King Charles in the UK next month.

Harry is due to return to the UK for a brief spell as he is set to attend the WellChild Awards on September 7, the day before the first anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Royal expert Marlene Koenig told Express.co.uk: "I think this would be a good opportunity for Harry to swallow his pride and see his father privately."

She added that while it might not be a very successful meeting, it is important for the King to see his younger son as he has made it clear in the past that he still loves Harry despite the rift that has grown between them in recent years.

As it stands it is not clear whether there are any plans for both parties to meet in the UK next month as tensions between Harry and The Firm still appear heightened.

Marlene added: "Seriously, this would be a good time to visit his father, who will be spending time quietly at Balmoral on the 8th, perhaps with other members of the family."

However, she went onto say that most people will be expecting Harry to attend the awards just before jetting back to California where he lives with wife Megan Markle and their kids Archie and Lilibet.

Harry has been a lifetime patron of the WellChilds charity and attends the awards annually.

The last few years have seen a huge divide drawn between Harry and the rest of the Royals following his fury at how his wife Megan was treated by the Royals and the UK media.

King Charles is spending his first summer at Balmoral Castle where he is set to welcome a host of other Royals.

But it is unlikely Harry will attend as he is also due to head to Dusseldorf in Germany soon after the awards as he is going to the Invictus Games.

Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as he was inspired by the Warrior Games the year before.

The Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded servicemen and women.

His wife Megan is also set to attend the Games in Germany but will be getting there a couple of days after they start.

However, it is not clear whether the kids will be travelling along with her.
