A MAN who lives on a cruise ship working as a dancer has revealed the strict rules he has to follow.

Ethan James took to social media to reveal the secrets of working on board a boat.

He said: "These are some rules we have to follow and rules I didn't expect while working on a cruise ship."

The entertainer revealed after five or six o'clock, staff are all expected to dress formally and wear long pants or they can end up in big trouble.

Ethan said: "On my first contract I learnt that you can't talk to guests for longer than 15 minutes or it's preferred that you do not.

"The reason for this is more just like crew to guest, the relationship that you have with the guest.

Ethan added that his second contract working on a cruise ship didn't have this specified and was encouraged to talk to guests as much as possible.

The cruise ship worker also revealed even if you have a pass for 'open dining' and sitting with the guests for dinner you can be refused entry.

He continued: "Guests come first so they can actually deny you even if it's quiet because they might have bookings later on."
