Alex Scott loses focus as Lionesses score
Alex Scott was “scared for her life” after the abuse she received over possibly presenting a Question of Sport.
In a new interview the Football Focus host, 38, revealed she was afraid to leave her house due to the amount of trolling she received.
“That was at a level that I was scared for my life,” she told The Times and the presenter received death threats.
Alex continued: “I was scared to leave my house to even go to the shop. That’s the stage that we’d got to – that, oh my gosh, someone black might be replacing a national treasure could cause such hatred.”
The former professional footballer briefly turned to drinking in an effort to drown out the noise of the trolls.

Sue Barker, whose tenure as host of A Question of Sport came to an end after 24 years in 2021, sparked speculation over who would be her replacement earlier that summer.
Trolling reached new highs when it was inaccurately claimed Alex would be taking over the BBC role, with the job eventually going to Paddy McGuinness.
As a result of the abuse, Alex sought out therapy, as she admitted the “trolls pushed me to it”.
Sue previously spoke out following her BBC exit and claimed that she was “sacked” from the role, and has been left “slightly damaged” by the experience.

She said that in 2020 rumours circulated again about her and panellists Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell being replaced.
The sports presenter said it was pitched as a “refresh” of the show “with more diversity and more appeal to a younger audience”.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Sue revealed that she was “gobsmacked” by the way her exit was handled.
When announcing her departure from the BBC’s live sports broadcasting in June 2021, she said in a statement: “What a wonderful time I’ve had working on some of the biggest sporting events around the world. I will miss it terribly but after 30 years I feel the time is right for me. I’ve worked with the best of the best.”
