Kim Tate (Claire King) was called in Emmerdale to help good friend Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) in the wake of her devastating ordeal at the hands of schemer Faye (Jane Gurnett).
Mary, as viewers know, fell in love with Faye earlier this year after the two met on a dating app, but her happiness was short-lived, with subsequent scenes seeing her lover exposed as a con-artist.
The realisation left Mary absolutely heartbroken, but she ultimately decided that she wouldn’t let Faye get away with her crimes, reporting the schemer to the police.
Faye was in the wind for a few months, but Mary received an update last week, being notified that the criminal had been apprehended.
There was, however, more heartache on the cards, with Faye confronting Mary, urging her to change her statement, claiming to still be in love with her.
Mary refused to believe her lies, which led to Faye revealing her true nature once more, blackmailing the journalist into dropping her statement, otherwise she would send a non-consensual nude photograph of her to all of her contacts.

Horrified, Mary resolved to do as Faye demanded, but a comment from April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), who branded her a ‘hero’, led her come up with another idea, as she used her journalistic skills to catch Faye out, recording her confession on her phone before the police apprehended her.
Mary’s nightmare, however, was far from over, with Faye following through on her threat, with all of Mary’s loved ones receiving the photograph in question, leaving her absolutely devastated.
Knowing there was only one person who could get through to her, Rhona (Zoe Henry) called Kim, who arrived at Smithy Cottage for a chat, urging Mary to hold her head up high.
The businesswoman’s tough no-nonsense approach didn’t go down too well with Mary, who lashed out at Kim, believing that she was looking down her nose at her. She then made an impassioned speech about how she’s worth more than such treatment, reiterating that she ‘matters’, before revealing that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
Kim smiled, clapping for Mary, with it having been her intention all along to get Mary to this realisation her own.
Grateful for Kim’s support, Mary ultimately took her advice, returning to work at the Woolpack, where she received love and support from all of her colleagues and fellow villagers.
Emmerdale continues Friday July 21 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
