BBC Breakfast viewers were treated to a surprise sofa of co-hosts on this morning's show.

Sally Nugent, 51 and Jon Kay, 53, usually host the morning news programme Monday through Wednesday, with BBC veterans Naga Munchetty, 48, and Charlie Stayt, 61, taking over for the Thursday through Saturday shift.

However, today viewers tuned in to see a different duo sitting there.

Ben Thompson, 41 and Tina Daheley, 42, covered the morning headlines with Sally and Jon nowhere to be seen.

Jon already warned viewers about his absence with a much-needed planned two-week family holiday.

Ben covered BBC Breakfast earlier this week with Sally while Jon has been away enjoying his vacation.

No comment was made on Sally's whereabouts, but with the star hosting the morning show already this week, fans can presume that the host just had plans for today and that they will see her on their screens again soon.

Tina is no stranger to the iconic BBC Breakfast sofa, so viewers were in safe hands as the two settled in to cover the show.

They dissected the latest headlines, including scamming and fraud, rising interest rates, the Bank of England report, and the BBC presenter scandal.

Regular BBC Breakfast sports reporter John Watson also made an appearance to share the latest on Wimbledon as the tournament approaches its semi-final rounds.
