Jess Wright has revealed that she has to consider having a second baby “quite soon”.
The 37-year-old former TOWIE regular is already mum to one-year-old son Presley, and has told OK! that she’s aware her age means she’ll need to start planning soon if she’s going to expand her brood.
“When people were asking in the beginning about another one, I was thinking ‘are you crazy? I’ve just, just had this baby’,” she told us. “But I am obviously getting older, I’m 38 this year, so it’s something that I have to consider quite soon which is scary.”
Jess has been very open about struggling with postnatal depression following Presley’s birth in May 2022, and said while she’s fully recovered, she’s putting the thought of getting pregnant again “to the back of my mind”.
Jess and her businessman husband William Lee-Kemp, 40, recently celebrated Presley’s birthday with a magical Disney-themed party at their home. It was an important milestone for the family given their struggles in the early days.
After giving birth, Jess’s mental health deteriorated, setting off alarm bells with her close-knit family, including mum Carol. Jess said if it happened again with any future children, she knows they would be quick to step in to help to intervene.
“They would all be on it straight away,” she said. “I mean, I was crying in front of my family the night I got home from the hospital. I didn’t know I had it then, I didn’t know how to explain how I felt.
“I wear my heart on my sleeve so if there’s something up, they know about it.”
Jess said her friends who have more than one child often tell her that if the babies had been born in a different order, they might not have gone on to have a second or third.
“I know everyone says ‘oh I wouldn’t have had another one’ but I’m sure people would because there are good times and you do forget the bad times,” she explained. “Ultimately Presley’s just such a little dream and such an amazing little addition to our life so who knows?”
In Presley’s early days he suffered with painful reflux and tummy issues, which Jess and William believed resulted from a possible allergy to dairy.
It meant them taking their baby son back-and-forward to the doctors to try and get to the bottom of it.
“We had every problem under the sun, nothing serious but just stuff that can really affect your mental health and was really stressful for me and my husband and our families,” Jess said. ““So, yeah, it’s just one of those things that never ends, however, I know everyone says ‘oh I wouldn’t have had another one’ but I’m sure people would because there are good times and you do forget the bad times.
“Ultimately he’s just such a little dream and such an amazing little addition to our life so who knows?”.
