They were dumped from theLove Island villa just a day before the grand finale – missing out on the chance to win £50,000.

But there were no hard feelings for Will Young and new girlfriend Jessie Wynter on Sunday as they headed home empty handed – with the two instead picking their favourites to win.

The couple both backed Tom and Samie as their winners, having bonded with the couple during their time in South Africa.

After leaving the villa, Will said: "I want Tom and Samie to win. They went through very similar things to me and Jessie. Being with Tom throughout the whole journey, we went through all of those emotions together and all of the steps and stages of winning our girls back.

"I just got so close to Tom and also to their relationship. I would say I was closest with their relationship than anyone else’s. I can see how real, loving and compatible they are and you grow with them."

His Australian girlfriend agrees. Jessie said of the pair: "They are a genuine and beautiful couple."

Her other favourites were Sanam and Kai, with Jessie explaining: "It took Kai a while to find the right person, but when he did I felt like he was investing all of his time into Sanam. They work so beautifully."

With their time in the villa behind them, Jessie plans to visit Will's farm in England.

She said: "I’m heading to Will’s farm for the interim! I’m very excited to go there. I’ll be looking to move to London. Samie and I were going to look at apartments so we’ll see how all of that goes."

But Will also has plans to travel – and says he could see himself living in Australia in the future.

"I think it’s very fair to say I would go to Australia. A relationship is a two-way thing," he said. "It would be unfair for me to rely on Jessie moving here 100%. Australia has always been a place I’d like to go to and travel."

While Will and Jessie were fan favourites they were dumped from the villa in shock scenes on Sunday night, with fans dismayed to see them depart.

And in a mix up by ITV the news was announced during the advert break in a mistimed promo for Aftersun. Minutes before the fire pit dumping aired, Will and Jessie joined Maya Jama as she announced they'd be interviewed about being dumped.
