EMMERDALE has cancelled filming today after the soap’s schedule was thrown into chaos.

The ITV soap stepped down production in the village after Storm Larissa battered the country with blizzards.

Snow coated the remote Emmerdale village location set yesterday but bosses pressed on filming scenes that are due to air in May.

But after overnight blizzards that has now become impossible forcing bosses to pull the plug.

A source said: “Producers had no choice but to halt filming while the storm passes and the snow melts.

“Many beyond believable things happen in soaps but you can’t have a snow storm in May with summer storylines heating up.”

“Look out Leeds. We’re all going sledging.”

Meanwhile actors Rosie Bentham and Lewis Cope posted pictures of the set looking more like a Christmas Winter Wonderland.

An Emmerdale spokeswoman said: "Due to the weather and road accessibility all Emmerdale filming units have been cancelled today."

Meanwhile the Met Office has issued an amber weather warning and told Brits to expect "strong winds bringing blizzard conditions".

They say heavy snow is likely to cause significant disruption on this morning.

Met Office meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey explained a storm, which has been named by the French weather service, is bringing the freezing weather.

He said: "Storm Larisa, which Meteo France have named, is the same low pressure system that is bringing us the bands of rain.

"But essentially, we're on the northern side of the low pressure system and it's the southern side of that low pressure system that is going to be bringing particularly strong winds to parts of France.
