SNOOKER star Shaun Murphy was left fuming after claiming a SEAGULL stole his Terry's Chocolate Orange.

The world No11 returned to his hotel having beaten Victor Sarkis in the first round of the Welsh Open hoping to celebrate with a well-earned treat.

Murphy left the snack on the window sill of his hotel in Llandudno, so it would stay cool while he was out.

However he was left fuming when he returned to find the snack had gone missing.

The man nicknamed the Magician was left with no doubt about what happened.

Murphy, 40, took to Twitter to vent his anger about the situation.

He said: "So…..when I left my hotel room earlier this evening I placed, VERY CAREFULLY a Terrys Chocolate Orange on the Window Ledge outside to chill so I could have a few slices with a coffee in bed.

"Not there now is it. #fuming #seagulls".

Murphy managed to put the incident behind him to record a comfortable 4-1 win over Chinese player Peng Yisong in the second round of the Welsh Open.

He lost four stone in weight last year after undergoing an operation to have a gastric band fitted.

Murphy told the BBC: "I just wish I had done it 20 years ago, because it does feel as if it's changed my life for the better.

"I've struggled with my weight all my life."

He is still searching for his first ranking title since winning the Welsh Open back in 2020.

There is a field full of quality in Llandudno including Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump but Murphy will fancy his chances of scooping the £80,000 top prize in Sunday's final.

The 40 year old will face Anthony McGillin the third round on Thursday.
