DESPITE previous rumours of a rekindling romance with Stormzy, Maya Jama insists she is very much still single.

The pair were dating for four years, but as she prepared about to make her Love Island hosting debut, Maya, 28, lifted the lid on the state of her own love life.

The star previously dated the rapper from 2015 until 2019 and she's about to front the new 'winter' series of the highly anticipated reality show.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Maya insisted she is very much single as she reflects on her relationship to the award-winning artist.

Maya explained: ''We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers.

"I was starting at MTV. He’d not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies."

"I don’t think either of us knew it was going to be such a big thing. We were just: we’re young and in love and we’re going to go for it and work really hard."

She added: "We’re just together. We never really did red carpets. We didn’t do any of that stuff."

Maya insisted that despite speculation the pair are back together, she is happy to be single as she only recently split from Australian basketball star Ben Simmons.

“I’m really, really single right now. Newly single. It’s only been a month, but it’s nice.”

This comes after The Sun previously reported that Maya and Stormzy were dating again, three years after first splitting up.

The new Love Island host joined her rapper ex at the GQ Men of the Year 2022 celebration in west London on Wednesday evening and they then left minutes apart at 2am.

They had spent time deep in conversation at the bash, at Pavilion members’ club in Knightsbridge. He was heard telling pals they were back together.

But he didn’t seem too keen on others finding out because when a fan took a photo of them together, he squared up to them and demanded it was deleted.

A source said: “Stormzy and Maya are together again. They’re taking it slow but are very much back in each other’s lives after a long time when they didn’t speak or see each other.”

A second source at the party said: “They spent loads of time together at the afterparty and were chatting in a corner for ages.

“It seemed as though they went somewhere else together afterwards because she walked out and then he followed her out five minutes later.”

Love Island returns to ITV on Monday, January 16.
