The Masked Dancer viewers complained that they were unable to enjoy the talent show’s grand finale as the subtitles failed to appear on screen. Fans of the unique ITV reality show took to social media to share their frustrations over the error.

For the first half an hour, an error message appeared apologising for the lack of description and dialogue written on screen.

This frustrated many fans who required the service, and they flocked to Twitter to vent at ITV.

Janned tweeted: “Why no subtitles on the final – very disappointed.”

“Still no subtitles yet the adverts do!! Come on, what are you playing at?? Waited all week for the final.”

Lorraine added: “Masked Singer UK no subtitles on the final ITV sort it, please. #subtitles”

Aiysha fumed: “NO SUBTITLES ON GRAND FINAL?!?!”

Nigel wrote: “The Masked Dancer Final….no subtitles”, alongside a sad-faced emoji.

Taurum penned: “It would be better if you had the subtitles on for us [who are] hard of hearing!!!”

John Bishop replaced Jonathan Ross on the panel and was eager to see the identities of Scissors, Onomatopoeia and Pearly King.

The Liverpudlian comedian has recently become an advocate for those who are either deaf or hard of hearing after his documentary.

His show John & Joe Bishop: Life After Death, told the story of his son who was experiencing a condition which affected his hearing.

Ahead of the ITV documentary he said: “Before we started this journey, we could never have imagined what an impact it would have on us as a family.

“Joe and I are so grateful to the members of the deaf community who we’ve met this year, their generosity has changed our lives.”

The mishap from the network will surely disappoint the comedian.

Legendary comedian Dawn French also joined show regulars Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch to guess the identity behind the unique costumes.

Regular panellist Jonathan was missing from this year’s big final due to illness.

The Masked Dancer’s Twitter account confirmed the news of his absence, writing: “He was off ill and Bish kindly stepped in.”

Host Joel Dommett will reveal all of the celebrity contestants on the whacky primetime show, to answer millions of viewers’ questions.

There will also be one character who will lift the prestigious trophy and be named the second Masked Dancer UK winner.

Last year, olympian gymnast Louis Smith won the competition performing as Carwash.
