During an appearance on This Morning, the actor who plays Craig Tinker (played by Colson Smith) in Coronation Street, potentially gave away the future of his keen on-screen character. During an interview with Rochelle Humes and Andi Peters, Colson discussed the importance of the early menopause storyline he’s involved in and what viewers may be able to learn while tuning in.
In Coronation Street, Faye and Craig have been struggling recently while they have adapted to Faye’s early menopause diagnosis.
Their rocky relationship hit an even more precarious turn when Faye kissed Michael (Ryan Russel) in the back of the Rovers’ Return.
This came after Craig and Faye struggled to get along, following his various acts of intended kindness following her diagnosis.
Whether it was asking her boss Carla Barlow (Alison King) to ease his girlfriend’s workload, or buying a onesie designed to keep her temperature in line, Craig kept missing the point with what was required.

Despite his best intentions, his overly keen gestures have upset Faye, who is coming to grips with what the early menopause means, or doesn’t mean for her.
In a vital yet rare storyline to be featured in a soap, both of the characters are learning, if necessary, how to adapt to it.
Colson appeared on This Morning to discuss those factors and explained how their respective characters have been struggling to make things work.
He talked about the challenges men have to also address when their partner is experiencing what Faye is.
Chatting to This Morning’s Rochelle, Colson explained: “I think Craig has handled the situation in what he personally thinks is the right way to do it.
“But I think what Faye really needs in this situation is for Craig just to be there for her and just to listen and just be steady away.
“But Craig has kind of got carried away in trying to be the best boyfriend he can possibly be and I think at times he doesn’t realise that he’s actually not being helpful.”
If Craig continues to behave in an “unhelpful” way towards his other half could she snap and call off their relationship?
In a complicated story for the Weatherfield soap to address, the common nature of the topic was welcomed by Rochelle.
The presenter said the storyline rings so true for so many couples in their relationships.
She said: “There’s still so much we don’t know about the menopause, particularly for men, right? Do you think this is going to affect their relationship?”
Colson replied: “It’s hard to say because I guess in Craig’s point of view he is just trying to be the absolute best boyfriend he can be and in doing that he has been patronising.”
Considering Colson’s interview and the actions of the formerly happy couple, the future does not look bright for Faye and Craig.
Perhaps if Craig was to adapt a little better and stop smothering his partner, they may be able to work things through.
But, with Faye’s extracurricular activity with Michael undoubtedly going to become public knowledge, will the pair be able to continue together?
