BETFAIR have SLASHED Erik ten Hag's odds of being the first Premier League manager to leave their position.

The Dutchman, 52, was available at 33/1 heading into his first competitive outing as Manchester United boss.

But he's now offered at 20/1 following United's opening weekend defeat against Brighton at Old Trafford.

Pascal Gross' first-half double stunned the home supporters, who booed their side at the break.

The second-half introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo did provide a brief spark and slight improvement, but the Seagulls survived a late onslaught to win 2-1.

Ten Hag said: "It was unnecessary to lose this game. I think it was a good start and then we dropped down a level, dropped down in belief and we made mistakes and the opponent punished us.

"I think it is a good opponent, they have worked long together and when you make mistakes you get punished for that against such teams."

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom added: "Erik ten Hag’s time as Manchester United manager couldn’t have got off to a worse start and a home defeat against Brighton definitely wasn’t what he was dreaming.

"He's now 20/1 from 33/1 to be the next Premier League manager sacked following his first match in charge."

Everton boss Frank Lampard remains the favourite at 4/1.

The Toffees suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday although supporters were encouraged by the energetic performance.

Premier League managers to leave their club

Betfair

Think YOU know which Premier League managers won't last the season? Betfair have got a new market for that!

Punters can now combine which top-flight bosses they think will leave their club before the final day of the 2022-23 season.

Ten managers were sent packing during the 2021-22 season, and it could be a similar number this year with the stakes at an all-time high.

Example: Frank Lampard, Marco Silva, Scott Parker and Thomas Tuchel all to leave before the final match of the season is offered at 12/1. A £10 stake would return £124!

Ralph Hasenhuttl is next at 9/2.

Saints were hammered 4-1 by Tottenham and many are now predicting a very difficult campaign for Hasenhuttl's side.

The other big market-mover is Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard was offered at 11/1 following their opening day defeat to newly promoted Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

But he's now priced at 6/1.

The defeat means that Villa have won just twice in their last 10 Premier League games, and spent around £160m on new recruits over the past year windows.
