Amid Page Six’s report that Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham “can’t stand each other and don’t talk,” the “Bates Motel” star has revealed the real reason she didn’t wear one of her mother-in-law’s designs for her wedding to the fashion icon’s son Brooklyn.

“I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” Nicola, 27, told Variety.

“She didn’t say ‘you can’t wear it;’ I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”

For her April nuptials, the actress wound up walking down the aisle in a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown with a sleeveless, square-neck silhouette and a long train, pairing the look with lace opera-length gloves and a cathedral-length veil.

Back in 2020, however, it was reported that Victoria would be making Nicola’s wedding dress, with a source telling The Sun, “Victoria would like to keep it in the family when it comes to the gown and is thrilled Nicola has agreed.”

The insider added that Nicola had “initially wanted a haute couture gown by Elie Saab,” but later “decided to let Victoria design her dress.”

The “Transformers” star did wear a Victoria Beckham original to announce her engagement that year, showing off her emerald-cut diamond ring (which she later upgraded to an enormous oval-shaped sparkler estimated at $2 million) in a yellow ruffled number from the former Spice Girl’s label.

Nicola told Variety she suspects the rift rumors began when she picked another designer for her big day.

“The build-up to the wedding was horrendous,” Page Six’s source said, adding that Nicola didn’t want Brooklyn’s mom “to be any part of the planning, and she wouldn’t clue Victoria in on anything. Communication was minimal.”

But a second source told us, “It’s not just about two women — it’s two families coming together,” saying, “Victoria and Nicola are just collateral damage.”

Nicola’s dad is billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, who according to the insider has offered to back his daughter and son-in-law in their future business ventures. It’s believed that the young couple would like to launch fashion and beauty lines, much like the Beckhams — “But for David and Victoria, it has to have some substance,” our source said.

“The Beckhams are quite old-fashioned. They believe that everyone should make their own way up in the world,” another insider told us.
