Mark Wright has opened up on his long distance relationship with wife Michelle Keegan in a rare chat about their marriage.

The 35 year old former The Only Way is Essex star and the Our Girl actress Michelle, 35, have been married since 2015, however they're known to spend extended periods of time away from each other for their respective careers.

Michelle is currently away in Australia filming for for new BBC drama Ten Pound Poms, and Mark is currently out there to visit her.

Speaking about their relationship and how they get long distance to work, Mark told MailOnline : “I think both being in the same industry really helps. Because we get each other's careers, and we totally understand it.

“Essentially, we both just want each other to achieve all of our goals and all of our dreams and we just support each other every step of the way for that, you know.”

He then revealed that he, surprisingly, got advice from Piers Morgan on how to navigate long-distance relationships.

Mark said: “You have to learn that you've been together for a long time and not seen each other in three weeks so it's exciting at first but then it goes back to being a 10-year relationship.

“The longer you go, the more pressure there is because the longer it's been. But I was in LA and had a dinner with Piers Morgan and I told him it was hard. He said, 'I had this with my wife and we have a 3 weeks rule so don't let it go past 3 weeks'.”

A few years ago, Mark landed a job as a presenter for US television show, Extra, however, he reportedly negotiated out of his contract so he could move back to the UK and be with his wife.

He revealed earlier this year that he had turned down a huge job across the pond in order to prioritise his relationship with Michelle.

Mark said: “I would never be able to live away again. I would certainly go back there for a period of time to do a job, but not full time. I don’t like missing my friends and family.

Mark and Michelle have been busy renovating a palatial Essex property into their dream home since 2020, and they've been keeping fans updated on its progress via a dedicated home Instagram account, named @wrightyhome.

Mark recently shared an incredible shot of the huge white home sat underneath a breathtaking sky.

Captioning the snap, he marvelled over the sky and teased that he and Michelle were soon set to reveal the inside of the house: "The sky over the house the other night."

The property is said to boast five bedrooms, three dressing rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, in-house spa and sauna, an outdoor pool and even a pool house.
