Love Island fans were left in hysterics during Thursday night’s episode of the popular ITV2 dating show, as Luca Bish realised that his loved up relationship with Gemma Owen could soon be under threat.
The episode opened to trouble in paradise for couple Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Jay Younger, as Jay calmly and respectfully told Ekin-Su he would like to get to know Paige Thorne better.
While things appeared to initially go well at first, it wasn’t long before Ekin-Su kicked off in a fiery tantrum at having been “led on” and “mugged off”.
Yet despite this Jay didn’t regret his actions, and still wished to get to know Paige, who was coupled up to rugby player Jacques O’Neill.
Approaching the Castleford Tigers player, Jay explained his intentions to his new found friend, and received Jacques blessing to proceed.
Later in the episode, Jacques recounted this new development to his ex-girlfriend and longtime friend Gemma who is currently coupled up with fishmonger Luca.
Yet it was Luca’s unimpressed expression that tickled fans, as they could pinpoint the exact moment he realised his girlfriend’s ex might soon be single and back on the market.
“Am I the only one that caught Lucas face when Jacques was telling them about his convo with Jay. Luca did not look pleased” wrote one fan.
While another highlighted that Luca looked far from impressed, adding: “No but the panic on Luca’s face!”
A third fan also shared their thoughts, writing: “The stress on Luca's face when Jacques is telling him Jay wants to crack on with paige. You can see the maths circling about his head”
Before a fourth weighed in and commented: “Did anyone clock Luca’s face just then? Luca is panicking because if Jay cracks on with Paige..that leaves Jacques free which means Gemma and Jacques could rekindle”
Aside from the panic, other users felt it showed how possessive Luca was of Gemma, with several even questioning how sincere his friendship with his fellow islander would remain if the pair went head to head to win Gemma’s heart.
“Luca is so possessive even his face screams possession I dunno how to explain it,” observed one fan.
While another viewer said: “Luca literally can’t even stand Gemma and Jacques having a conversation… his face literally says it all!”
With a third adding: “Luca’s face looks sooo threatened”
