Coronation Street star Helen Worth looked completely different in a throwback snap aged just 18.
The actress is best known for playing Gail Platt – long-suffering mother of David and Nick – on the ITV cobbles, but long before she made her Corrie debut, Helen was acting in a range of roles.
And, pictured in 1969 – five years before she first appeared in Corrie – she looked totally different.
One unearthed black-and-white snap showed Helen wearing a school uniform complete with a blazer, crisp white shirt and tie, with her long brunette hair fixed into a plait with a ribbon in her hair.
The youthful star beamed at the camera, showing off a row of teeth, as she sat surrounded by what looks to be woodland.
Fans rushed to comment on the incredible snap, with one writing: “She hasn’t really changed much! Great actress.”
Another agreed: “She’s not changed much. Love her Corrie character.”
As someone else said: “I can see she’s always been a looker!” with a row of heart-eyed emojis.
“Can tell it’s her straight away, looking very cheeky!” a fourth fan added, while another social media user said: “What a beautiful photograph!”
Helen, 71, first found acting fame in the 1963 series Z Cars as Maisie, before going on to star in everything from Doctor Who as Mary Ashe in 1971 to Time of Your Life as Pauline Jackson until 1972.
She made her Corrie debut in 1974, when Gail was still going by her maiden name Potter.
Since then, her character has been married five times – first to Brian Tilsley, then to Martin Platt, Richard Hillman, Joe McIntyre and finally Michael Rodwell until 2016.
Helen’s real love life has been decidedly less dramatic, as she has only been married twice – first to Michael Angelis from 1991 until 2001, and then to Trevor Dawson in 2013.
Michael is best known for his role as the narrator for Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, while Trevor is a deputy headmaster at a school.
Speaking to The Mirror in 2016, Trevor said of their relationship: “We met at a mutual friend's 90th birthday party. Yes, it was love at first sight.
"We watch the show together. I had always been a fan going back some years.
"I used to watch it with my mum. Of course, Gail was my favourite."
