On Thursday (February 17), hosts Alex Jones and Rylan Clark-Neal were joined by the nation’s favourite Geordie duo Ant and Dec on The One Show. When the Welsh presenter informed BBC viewers Australia will be reopening its borders on Monday, Alex asked the question on everybody’s lips. The Limitless stars spoke about the future of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and teased their return to Oz which could be as early as next year.

Alex began: “Now, I’m A Celebrity, let’s go there. Australia are reopening their borders from Monday.

“So is it the castle or is it the jungle?”

Ant replied: “Well, the plan is the jungle.”

Speaking to their Welsh host, Dec quickly added: “Nothing against Wales.”

Before the BBC host playfully snapped: “I was going to say!”

In jest, Rylan said: “She’s going to lash out.”

Ant confirmed to BBC viewers: “No, we love Wales, but Australia is its home and we’d like to get back there.”

For the past two years, the ITV show has been filmed at Gwrych Castle, in Wales, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

With the impact of the pandemic, celebrities had to follow strict protocols in order to keep the show as safe as possible for all members of the cast and crew.

A spokesperson confirmed to Metro.co.uk the celebrities quarantine for a fortnight with regular testing prior to heading into the castle.

The contestants then form their camp bubble for the duration of their stay until their eviction.

In an interview with Radio Times, Ant gushed: “We’ve had a great time for two years in Wales, we were made to feel really welcome and at home.

“But it’s a proper home, Australia, so we would like to get back there next year if we can.”

Whereas Dec claimed the celebrities have it easier in the Welsh castle and believes the jungle is much harsher.

He said: “We can torment them more in Australia, it’s harder conditions outside, there are all sorts of creepy crawlies in the camp.

“It’s harder in Australia, definitely.”

Later, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is set to return with a live audience over the weekend.

Hosts Stephen Mulhern, Andi Peters and Fleur East are getting ready to bring back all the Saturday Night Takeaway classics, from Ant vs Dec and On-Air Dares to Singalong Live and The End of the Show Show.

There will also be some exciting new segments, such as “Kiddi-eoke” and Polter Guys, a weekly miniseries that will see Ant and Dec become ghostbusters.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway returns Saturday 19 on ITV at 7pm
