Emmerdale has aired Aaron Anthony’s final scenes as Ellis Chapman.
Ellis decided to leave the village in Wednesday’s (February 9) episode of the ITV soap, just one week before brother Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) wedding, after he secured a huge job opportunity in Australia.
The character’s departure comes in the wake of reports that Aaron had quit the show following a ‘racism row’ which reportedly took place during on-location filming for a big stunt week.
An investigation was launched in the aftermath of the clash, in which apparently offensive remarks were made.
A source told The Sun in December: ‘Aaron is bitterly angry about this situation and he has had to be persuaded to come back to Leeds to film his scenes in recent months.
‘He has done some filming over the last couple of weeks, but the understanding is that those scenes will be his last.
‘He has been very vocal in his opinions about the allegations and about the way in which the enquiries have been handled by the bosses.
‘He now feels his position on the show is untenable.’
Ellis, meanwhile, packed his bags and said an emotional goodbye to Priya (Fiona Wade) in tonight’s episode, confessing he still loves her and hopes their paths will cross again in the future.
He then told brother Billy (Jay Kontzle) and Priya to look after themselves, before he departed.
In recent weeks, the character had been having a secret relationship with Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), which caused Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) anger to increase, furious that his little sister was going out with his enemy Al’s son.
Aaron’s first scenes as Ellis aired back in 2019.
Emmerdale continues Thursday February 10 at 7pm on ITV.
