IF your pumpkin carving skills are somewhat lacking, these crafty Harry Potter-inspired designs could be right up your street this Halloween – provided you're a fan of the boy wizard.

The best thing is, these clever creations don't even require a carving knife, making them an ideal option if you've got young kids.

DIY guru Karen Kavett has created four spellbinding Harry Potter designs which she's shared to her Facebook page, complete with handy tutorial videos.

All but one of her creations involve painting your pumpkin white, using chalkboard paint which you can purchase on Amazon.

One features the cheeky slogan: "I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good," for which Karen has used sparkly adhesive rose-gold glitter letters, and printed black letters attached with chalkboard tape.

She finished off the pumpkin with silver stars, cleverly fashioned out of silver duct tape.

Another design is a cute interpretation of Harry himself, complete with a lightening bolt scar, round spectacles and a Gryffindor scarf.

His adorable round glasses are made from cardboard and Duck brand black sticky paper, and are attached to the pumpkin using a glue gun.

Karen then uses red and orange felt to design his scarf, which is also glued on using the gun.

Her third combines the house colours of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw – scarlett, green, yellow and blue – with a gold painted stalk.

She uses colourful sticky tape to create the design, meaning you don't have to get messy with paint.

The final design is a Golden Snitch – crafted from a miniature pumpkin painted gold.

Karen uses white cardboard for the base for the wings, which she then covers in a shimmering white paper and lines with glow-in-the-dark duct tape to highlight the feather detail.

She also uses the tape to add an intricate swirling design on the front of the pumpkin.

If you're confident your skills aren't quite up to Karen's standards, many people have posted their own Harry Potter pumpkin efforts to Instagram.
