Aldi customers will no longer be able to get food delivered to their door.

The German retailer has stopped working with Deliveroo to distribute groceries to doorsteps within 30 minutes in some areas.

It first started offering delivery with the service at the start of the coronavirus pandemic back in May 2020, rolling out to 129 stores.

Millions of Brits started shopping online when coronavirus hit, although supermarkets were allowed to stay open.

If you lived within 6km of one of the stores offering the services you'd be able to select items delivered to your home.

The service was the only way to order Aldi groceries online as it doesn't offer online delivery food.

Home deliveries were never part of Aldi's long-term business model as it's prioritising its click and collect service instead.

An Aldi spokesperson told The Sun: "We have decided to end our trial with Deliveroo to focus on our click and collect service, which remains on offer at more than 200 of our stores nationwide."

Click and collect remains available at more than 200 of Aldi's 930 UK stores.

It comes after Aldi launched its first checkout-free store with no need to scan items.

The new store means customers can complete their shop without having to use a checkout – or even scan any items.

However, shoppers must download and use the Aldi Shop&Go app in order to enter the shop.

As they go around the store, special cameras with technology provided by AiFi then track what items are picked up.
