This Morning viewers were left conflicted after a woman who wants to use her dead husband's sperm to have a baby appeared on the show.
The distraught widower joined hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes on the show to tell her story as she prepares to head to the High Court.
Her husband made the decision to have his sperm frozen when he developed testicular cancer, however, he later died from an unexpected brain tumour.
She then discovered that consent forms he had signed for the use of his sperm were not valid because of an administrative error.
Now she faces a High Court battle to gain permission to use her late husband's sperm for IVF and have their child in his memory.
Viewers of the ITV daytime show could not believe their ears at the story and took to Twitter to debate their views.
One wrote: "Grief is awful but I’m afraid she’s not thinking of the effect on the child in all this…"
Another scathing social media user said: "Please woman let this man rest in peace… He is dead, you need to move on!"
A third wrote: "It's so sad when someone passes away, but to intentionally bring a life into the world when that person is gone, seems selfish to me."
Another continued: "One go. Christ, I wish this woman all the luck in the world. Somebody represent her!"
A fourth sympathetic viewer posted: "Aww such a sad story."
One conflicted user tweeted: "I don't know that I agree with what she wants to do… but wish her a speedy resolution as then she will know one way or the other whether this is allowed and if allowed whether it will work."
And another shared the turmoil posting: "It’s 50/50. It’s such a shame. But you don’t really want to have a child when he/she won’t meet its father. In other aspects, something might happen unexpectedly but you know he’s not going to be here. I hope you get what you want."
