The 41-year-old and fiancée Amanda Pacheco welcomed their daughter, Nakano, who turns 1 in February, in 2021, with Amanda deciding to breastfeed and Wilmer being there every step of the way. The pair chose to sleep train – a method that teaches the baby to fall asleep without help from their parents – and Wilmer admitted that he didn’t think he “had the heart for it, because it made me feel bad”.

“You’re not doing anything, you’re not doing enough. There are a million things to be done while your partner is nursing: Get the baby, change the baby, burp the baby, track the feeding, and keep the mommy hydrated, fed, and rested.”
Wilmer and Amanda, 31, met three years ago when a mutual friend put them in touch as the model was considering a move to Miami, where Wilmer grew up after emigrating as a child from Venezuela.

But the pair fell in love, and it was on a trip to Nakona in Japan where they “made a promise that it would always be us” and as Amanda shares, decided to “throw themselves in the deep end”.
Wilmer proposed on 1 January 2020, nine months after their first date, and on 15 February 2021 their little girl was born; their wedding has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
