Naughty Boy’s niece Aisha Shaban has opened up on how the DJ’s mother Zahida, 66, has been struggling without him while he’s on the ITV show. Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, has been his mother’s carer following her dementia diagnosis and lives with him. Appearing on Friday’s instalment of Lorraine, Aisha told host Lorraine Kelly how much of a “mummy’s boy” her uncle is.

When asked about her uncle starring in the ITV reality show, Aisha said to Lorraine: “He’s doing really well, obviously in the first few days he was really nervous,

“You could see in his face and from the way and he’s talking he’s had a lot on his mind, but I think he’s settling in well.”

Lorraine addressed Naughty Boy’s concerns over his mother because he’s her carer on the outside world as she suffers from vascular dementia.

“He looks after her and he’s incredible,” Lorraine explained to Aisha.

“Are you able to tell her what’s been going on and does she watch him while he’s on the show?”

Aishia explained: “He is like the youngest out of all the siblings so he is a true mummy’s boy.

“She relies on him a lot because he takes care of her and she lives with him.

“Obviously when you have dementia it’s very hard to understand things so him being away has affected her, but seeing him on the TV has calmed her down and she feels like he’s okay.”

Aisha said Naughty Boy’s mum usually has so many questions about her son and often asks her whether he’s eaten and when he’s coming home.

“But I think seeing him on the TV and seeing how well he’s doing helps her,” Aisha added.

Naughty Boy, who has collaborated with megastars like Beyonce and Rihanna, pulled out of last year’s I’m A Celebrity as it “didn’t seem right” to leave his mum at home.

Since entering the camp last weekend, Naughty Boy has had his fair share of trials and tribulations, often clashing with the other contestants.

The star threatened to quit the show earlier this week after his fellow campmates voted for him to take part in a dreaded Bushtucker Trial.

He opted to stay when he was moved into the Main Camp from the less appealing Clink camp, but locked horns with Frankie Bridge on Thursday’s episode over dinner.

He complained the rice she made had been partially cooked by The Saturday’s singer who joked with her fellow celebrities it was “rice pudding”.

An unimpressed Naughty Boy said: “If we’re having rice and beans, people would prefer to have rice and beans, not rice pudding and beans. I don’t know if I’m going crazy or overthinking.”

Frankie snapped: “You’re just coming into our camp and this was just what we did…”

Naughty Boy interrupted: “No, this is our camp. That’s wrong what you just said.”

He fumed: “It’s not your camp, don’t be like that. Don’t say things like you came to ‘our’ camp.”

Frankie became visibly upset and exited the castle. She was followed by Kadeena Cox who comforted the singer as she started to cry.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues at 9pm on ITV.
