EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer was left red-faced on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip after a show owner failed to recognise him – and said she only watches Coronation Street.

The soap star and daughter Dani joined auctioneers Natasha and Phil on an antiques hunt in Essex that featured pirates, a raft race, sunken treasure and a huge Chinese banquet.

The pair battled it out to make the most profit after choosing a range of antique items to auction.

Danny, 44, turned on the Cockney charm as he introduced himself to emporium shop owner Judy.

But the TV star was left flustered when Jean told him that she had no idea who he was.

She asked: "Who are you?"

Pointing at his face, he said: "Danny, you've seen me on EastEnders?"

Danny – who plays Mick Carter on the BBC One soap – told the owner that he was a regular on the soap.

However, Judy was still bewildered and replied: "I usually watch Coronation Street."

Gobsmacked by Judy's revelation, Danny put his face in his hands and said: "I'm trying to impress you Judi because I want to buy some stuff from you.

"But it's backfired on me, quite embarrassing."

Viewers were left in hysterics as Danny failed to impress the Essex shop owner.

One wrote: "Danny Dyer on #CelebrityAntiquesRoadTrip is VERY funny. His chat with Judy who has no idea who he is…."

Another posted: "Danny Dyer gutted that Judy doesn't watch EastEnders and watches Corrie instead. 😂"

A third added: "Danny Dyer failed to impress shop owner Judy. 😂"

Danny ended up purchasing a set of George III spoons and an HMS Beagle replica ship called The Darwin boat for a total of £145.

Earlier on he haggled a prism-shaped office instrument for £50.

He also haggled for a James Bond Aston Martin DB5 miniature car for £100.

Meanwhile, Love Island star Dani was on the hunt for a good bargain and managed to bag two urns, a clock with a missing glass face and a 9ct snake bangle with pink ruby.

She was also pleased with her 'gobstopper' sign and an 18th century plate.

The father-daughter duo then totalled up their profit.

The reality star began with £400, but after all auction costs she made a loss of £119.40 – ending with £280.60.

The actor also started with £400 but made a loss of £42.34 – ending with £357.66, making them today's winner.

Dani told her dad: "I want to do more of this antiques shopping, I've enjoyed it."

He replied: "Maybe that can be our thing, gauging on antiques."
