People trying to enter a parking garage near the scene were told by police there was an "active shooting" situation.
The reported incident happened just after 9pm at the intersection of Ridgeway Avenue and East Lawson Street, according to CBS17.
N.C. Central's football team was playing against Winston-Salem State University at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium at the time of the incident.
