Luke (played by O-T Fagbenle) has portrayed the loyal and distraught husband of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) for four seasons on The Handmaid’s Tale following the capture of his wife in Gilead. Summoned to a life as a handmaid, June has worked tirelessly to plot her escape from the authoritarian state and one day hopefully reunite with Luke and their daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake). The most recent season on Hulu saw her make it to Canada to be with Luke but revenge and their daughter who remained in Gilead stayed on her mind.
As the fourth season came to a close, June’s quest for revenge is what took centre stage as she orchestrated the murder of Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes).
Fred and wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) had kept June – known as Offred – as their handmaid in the early days of The Handmaid’s Tale, subjecting her to numerous acts of sexual abuse in their efforts to birth a child.
Serena even had June raped by their driver Nick (Max Minghella) in her desperate and sinister attempts to bring a child into the world.
After June had rejoined Luke in Canada in the fourth season, she and a team of her allies plotted to lure Fred to a secluded woodland where they murdered him for his actions.
What this means for the future of June, Luke, Hannah and Gilead as a whole remains to be seen in what promises to be an explosive fifth season.
However, while Fagbenle will likely reprise the role of Luke, the star has another new role to add to his work diary.
Away from the Hulu drama, Fagbenle has been confirmed for a recurring role in Apple TV+’s series, WeCrashed.
And he isn’t the only big name to land a role in the upcoming limited series as he joins a long list of big-name actors.
WeCrashed also boasts Oscar-winner Jared Leto, Superstore’s former leading star America Ferrera and BAFTA-winner Anne Hathaway in its cast.
According to Deadline, Fagbenle will take on the role of Cameron Lautner in the upcoming Apple drama.
His character is described as a “partner at a powerful investment firm who is tasked with trying to instil discipline at WeWork and prepare it for its upcoming IPO”.
Fagbenle’s character will land himself in hot water with the company’s CEO and as such, clashes and drama will ensue.

Fagbenle hasn’t released a public statement about his new role but did retweet the Deadline article announcing the news.
As mentioned earlier, it hasn’t been revealed if the new role will play any part in the actor’s part in The Handmaid’s Tale’s fifth run.
However, this isn’t the first time the Emmy-nominee has juggled other work projects alongside the Hulu drama.
In 2020, the actor tried his hand at writing, directing and executively producing his own comedy, Maxxx.
The star also made an on-screen appearance in big-screen blockbuster Marvel’s Black Widow.
In the pipeline as well as season five of The Handmaid’s Tale is The First Lady.
Showtime’s upcoming anthology series will see Fagbenle take on the role on Barack Obama as the drama takes a look at the different lives of the USA’s presidential leaders and the wives who stood beside them.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 concludes on Channel 4 on Sunday in the UK. It is available to stream on Hulu in the USA now.
