PLUCKY Egyptian side Pharco FC want to sign iconic right-back Dani Alves and open talks with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.

Owner of the newly promoted side Shreen Helmy is full of ambition having broken into Egypt's top flight.

Helmy may be hopeful of signing Alves, 38 – who is currently playing for boyhood club Sao Paulo in Brazil.

But he is not deluded enough to expect Messi, 34, to play for his team – instead wanting to work with him on a charity initiative.

Helmy told he told ElHadath AlYoum: "I am working on bringing Dani Alves from Sao Paulo because we can benefit from his experience.

"I have met Alves and he told me he wanted to play with Sao Paulo since he was 8 years old, and I think I can bring him to the Egyptian Premier League."

Messi woke up technically unemployed on July 1 after his Barcelona contract officially expired.

However, it is widely accepted captain Messi will put pen to paper on fresh terms for two years at the Nou Camp very soon and continue his legacy with the LaLiga giants.

And Helmy just wants to work with the Argentine on a charity campaign to help combat Hepatitis C.

Helmy added: "We negotiated with Messi.

"Not to join our club but to strengthen relations with the player after his contribution to the treatment of Hepatitis C."

Messi's most-recent Barcelona deal, signed in November 2017, ran until June 30, 2021.

And with a new deal yet to be confirmed then announced, he now does not have a contract with the club he joined 7,478 days earlier aged 13 in 2001.

That technically opens the door for any club to sign him for free immediately.
