Julia Bradbury has opened up about the vile trolling she received after posting a bikini selfie – including one comment telling her "you look like you've had chemotherapy".
The TV presenter was hit by a barrage of online abuse recently when she shared a photo of herself enjoying the sunny weather in her bikini, with trolls hitting out at the fact they could see her collarbone clearly defined.
On Thursday, Julia, 50, spoke to Lorraine about the hurtful accusations that she was too skinny and shared some of the rude messages she had been sent.
She said: "Some of the comments, they weren’t kind and that’s what social media has really brought on. Saying that you’re ill, saying 'You look like you’ve had chemotherapy.'
"Here’s the problem, I‘ve got skinny collarbones and I can’t do anything about that."
Talking about the abusive comments, the mum-of-three said: "'She needs a bag of chips!' I don’t think the chips go straight to your collarbones or even a dirty burger or anything else you could eat."
Julia said that she was able to shrug the abuse off, but thought it was important to call out the trolls as many people would be much more affected by online bullying.
She said: "It’s a serious problem though. I’m fairly confident and I can deal with it, you can deal with it we’ve been around for a long time Lorraine, we know how to deal with these things.
"But there are a lot of people out there with mental health issues, with body issues and the fact is there can be one comment that can get somebody the wrong way.
"All of this stuff, that just isn’t constructive criticism that’s just being purely nasty and unfortunately, social media is a breeding ground for that.
"So I’m here to say stop the trolling and think about what your comments actually mean to people."
Countryfile star Julia wasn't just hit by rudeness when she shared her bikini selfie – she also received a number of comments from fans who said they were worried about how thin she looked.
One wrote: "Julia I have always admired your fabulous figure and fitness. But you look so thin at the moment. I do hope you’re ok and well."
Another shared: "Julia I don’t mean to be horrible but it saddens me to see you looking so thin. I hope you are ok."
Someone else wrote: "You are a gorgeous lady but bones are never a good look! Maybe camera angle but probably too thin. Take care of yourself."
