Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were thrilled to welcome Nile onto This Morning today and were keen to probe him about his current tour.

But the pair were taken aback when Nile revealed he had recently had a shock fall just moments before going on stage to perform.

He explained he was healing and despite the fall, he went out on stage to perform and put on a great show for his fans.

Nile detailed: “So we’ve been on tour with Cher on and off for the last year and this second leg of the tour, five minutes before I was to go on stage, I slipped and fell and cracked a rib.

“And I knew that there was nothing I could do so I went out and played the show and I’m still healing.

“This happened months ago because it takes forever. A really long time.”

“Has that affected what you can do and your movements on stage?” Phillip asked.

Nile explained: “I just, when you’re doing it, you just let the adrenaline take you. When I was younger, I used to be a martial arts fighter.

“And, when you’re doing it, people are knocking you in the head and you keep going until somehow they knock you out.

“But you don’t feel the pain when it’s happening.”

Phillip went on to probe: “You must have thought, as you fell, as a martial arts fighter, ‘I should have fallen better than that.’”

“Well, actually, I thought as a martial arts fighter thank god I knew what was going on because I knew from the pain right away exactly what it was wrong,” Nile replied.

The 66-year-old also confirmed he was working on a show of his life.

“Yes, it’s really true,” he told Holly and Phillip.

Phillip probed: “And what are you going to do?” as Nile laughed: “I don’t know, hopefully get it right.”

Earlier on in the show, Phillip scolded co-host Holly after she talked over him during the show’s introduction.

Phillip began to announce Inch Loss Island was returning as Holly went to talk.

“Sorry,” she laughed as she realised she’d read her cue too early.

“Am I boring you?” Phillip demanded to know as they then cut to Fleur East in Crete to talk more about Inch Loss Island.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
