TV presenter Alison Hammond is set to make a cameo in Hollyoaks – but admits it was 'nerve-wracking'.
The ever-smiling This Morning presenter pops up in the village along with a camera crew to interview Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) after the twisted mum contacts the daytime TV show to tell them about her alleged 'terminal illness'.
TV favourite Alison shows up with a cheque for £5,000 which 'viewers' have raised for Maxine – who they think is dying – and won't live long enough to marry boyfriend Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts).
Maxine is actually suffering from Munchausen’s Syndrome, a personality disorder where patients fake illnesses to get attention and sympathy.
To make matters worse, Maxine is becoming addicted to the attention she's getting from everyone – and, of course – the proposal.
But will she feel guilty enough to come clean – or carry on the pretence and enjoy the money?
The 44-year-old presenter, who's interviewed the likes of Tom Cruise, said her stint bought on a new set of nerves.
She said: "Working with other actors and new people who are really good is nerve wracking.
"I enjoyed actually getting down and doing my scenes. I loved working with a big crew and working alongside Nikki and Jacob – it’s been a treat.
"They put me so at ease and made me feel really comfortable. We were laughing the whole time, we were like naughty school children!"
Alison isn't the first famous face to pop up in a soap. Lorraine Kelly recently appeared in Coronation Street which saw her get shot in the leg with an archery arrow by Gail Platt.
Following Lorraine on the cobbles is Christine Lampard who appeared on the TV set while the Platt family were watching TV in their log cabin in a holiday park.
TV presenter Kate Garraway turned up in Hollyoaks in 2017 at the murder trial of Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson).
While Chatty Man Alan Carr made a cameo in Hollyoaks in February 2018 walking his real life dogs Bev and Joyce through the village.
And Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing was an extra in Hollyoaks wearing doctor’s scrubs in the background of a hospital scene in May 2018 and was said to be 'very nervous' even though he had no lines.
While Ed Sheeran made a cameo in Home and Away in 2015 with blonde bombshell Marilyn calling him 'Teddy'.
